“That’s the spirit!” Whis slid to the side avoiding yet another hit from Goku.
He swung his staff to which Goku flipped over it standing lightly on the top. He smiled at Whis, “Okay, I think we can stop here.” Whis teleported his staff back into his hand.
Goku caught himself, landing on his feet, “Awh, really?”
“A break is much needed to assure maximum improvement. We want to allow today's training to sink in before adding more info.”
“Yeah, I get it.” Goku sighs, stretching his arms.
“Actually,” Beerus starts, standing to his feet, “I’d like to spar with Goku.” He walks up to them with his straight posture and his hands behind his back.
“Really now?” Whis looked at Beerus with some surprise.
Goku’s eyes lit up with excitement, “For real!? You want to fight me!?”
“Since the Tournament of Power I’ve wanted to test your improvement.” Beerus continues to speak calmly.
“Oh man, I’m so excited!” Goku ran in place as his excitement had to be expressed through motion.
“Do you have confidence you could beat me?” Beerus lifted a brow.
“I don’t know, but I’ll definitely try.” He gives Beerus a determined smile.
Whis seemed interested as well, “Let’s get started then, shall we?”
Goku and Beerus took their respective spots. Goku took a deep breath before activating Ultra Instinct. Beerus’ expression didn’t waver. He kept his amused look and that taunting grin, “Straight to Ultra Instinct?”
“I already know my other forms are nothing to you.” Goku explained calmly.
“Ready?” Whis stood between them.
Both took their stances, readying themselves, “Go.” Whis jumped back as the two immediately launched at each other.
Goku’s speed felt a bit overwhelming for Beerus who didn’t expect such improvement from Goku. Despite watching him train for the last few months nothing could prepare him for this growth in power. Beerus grit his teeth and he threw his first punch. Goku seemingly disappeared from view. Beerus knew a hit was coming and turned backwards to stop an incoming kick. Goku kept his blank expression knowing if he was distracted for just a moment Beerus would knock him out then and there, “You know,” Beerus started, further showing his confidence, “I’m still not using all of my power.” He pushed his arms forward, forcing Goku to jump backwards.
He caught himself, keeping his feet planted and eyes on Beerus. He stood straight and cracked his neck, shrugging his shoulders before lowering to his stance, “Alright Beerus, let’s do this then.” He launched at him once again disappearing and reappearing closer and closer till the two of them finally collided.
Little did Beerus know, Goku left one hand free upon their collision. Beerus had no time to react and was hit with a powerful ki blast. Beerus was pushed back leaving a trail of dirt while he stood firmly to not fall over. He adjusted his stance and dusted off the soot. His smug expression now replaced with a more monotone one to mask his aggression. He charges up two ki blasts and throws them. Goku blocks one of them and lowers his guard not realizing the second was still in Beerus’ hand and who was now above him. Beerus launched it at Goku’s feet who now lost balance and was shot up into the air as the ground below him collapsed. Beerus flew down at him readying a powerful kick to his abdomen. Goku disappears, making Beerus hit the ground. The collision so powerful a crater is formed. Goku had used Instant Transmission to teleport out of the way and to set himself up above Beerus at the perfect moment to grab the back of his head and slam it into the ground. Beerus feels disoriented for a moment before rage fills him completely. He yells as his aura blasts Goku away. Beerus flies up into the air and looks down at Goku. Goku jumps towards him flying up to him till Beerus utters a single word, “nigg*.”
All things stopped moving. Goku felt his strength leave him as his body went numb. Time resumed and he was flung backwards into the ground at sonic speeds. He felt the wind knock out of him along with Ultra Instinct as the blast wave hit him. His ears rung and his body was paralyzed. Whis teleported to Goku immediately and used his staff to heal him. Goku’s hearing was muffled, but he could tell Whis was scolding Beerus.
“Lord Beerus, that technique is forbidden to use, let alone on mortals! You were sparring, not killing each other!” His voice was slightly elevated from normal.
Goku struggled to sit up even after being healed. His vision was blurry and he could still hardly feel his fingers and toes, “Wha.. What was that?” He spoke, exasperated.
“A technique only to be used by Gods, and only known by few.” Whis explained with a sigh.
“Goku knew what he was getting into when he accepted my challenge.” Beerus crossed his arms, clearly unremorseful for his actions.
“Lord Beerus, you know better than to use that technique on a mere mortal.”
Beerus huffed and turned away from them.
“A technique only used by the Gods? Does that mean I can’t learn it?” Goku sounded a bit disappointed.
“Yes, if a mortal like you spoke the word you’d die instantly and then cease to exist. Not even your spirit would survive.” Beerus explained.
“It is an evil technique, which is why it is forbidden.” Whis adds, then glaring at Beerus.
“Wow.” Goku lays back down on the ground as his body is still being affected by the technique.
“You may return home now. We will see you again some other time.” Whis let out his hand to help Goku stand.
“Actually, I don’t think I can stand right now.. let alone move.” Goku looks up at Whis.
Whis sighs, “I can return you to your home.”
“I’m going to take a nap.” Beerus waves lazily slouching slightly as he returns to his palace.
Whis picks Goku up using the telekinetic ability of his staff. He takes Goku back to his home and drops him on his couch, “Thanks Whis.” Goku mustered the strength to wave with two fingers.
“It’s the least we could do.” Whis then exits the house and returns to Beerus’ planet.
